Description
Mahendraparvata was an ancient city located in the mountainous region of Cambodia, believed to be the early capital of the Khmer Empire in the 9th century CE. It was an important cultural and religious center during the reign of Jayavarman II, who declared himself the devaraja (god-king). The city was strategically placed amidst forests and mountains, blending natural beauty with architectural wonders.
Modern Remains
Mahendraparvata lies in the dense forests of Phnom Kulen mountain, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
