Description

Vijaya, located in central Vietnam, was the capital of the Champa Kingdom from the 12th century until its fall in 1471 CE. The city, also known as Panduranga, was a vibrant center of Hindu culture and trade. Its strategic location near the coast allowed it to prosper in maritime commerce. The city boasted impressive temples, royal palaces, and a strong military presence.

Modern Remains

Today, the remnants of Vijaya are scattered across Binh Dinh Province in central Vietnam. The site of My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserves numerous Cham Hindu temples built in the same architectural style as those in Vijaya. Banh It Towersand Chanh Lo Temple are among the most notable landmarks, offering glimpses into the grandeur of the once-thriving capital.
