Description

Muharraq is the third-largest city in Bahrain and was the historical capital during the 19th centuryunder the Al Khalifa Dynasty. Located on an island near the main city of Manama, it was once a major trading hub due to its proximity to the Arabian Gulf. Today, it maintains its traditional charm while blending modern Bahraini culture with its rich past.

Modern Remains

Key landmarks include the Pearling Path, a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the historic pearl diving industry. Visitors can explore the Muharraq Souq, a traditional market offering local crafts and spices, as well as the Shaikh Isa Bin Ali House, a beautifully preserved example of 19th-century Bahraini architecture.
