Description

Āsandīvat (also Asandivat or Asandīvat) was the political and possibly spiritual capital of the ancient Kuru Kingdom during the Vedic and later epic period of Indian history (c. 1200–600 BCE). It served as a royal seat for the Kuru dynasty, playing a central role in early Indo-Aryan civilization and the development of Vedic culture.

Modern Remains

The exact location of Āsandīvat is not definitively known, but it is often associated with sites near modern-day Haryana or western Uttar Pradesh, India. No confirmed archaeological remains have been identified, though the region contains numerous Iron Age and early historic sites. Its legacy survives more through literary and cultural memory than physical ruins.
