Description

Old Road Town, located on the west coast of Saint Kitts, is the oldest British settlement in the Eastern Caribbean. Founded in 1624 by Sir Thomas Warner, it served as the original colonial capital of Saint Kitts due to its fertile land and proximity to fresh water sources and the sea.

Modern Remains

Today, Old Road Town is a small community with traces of its colonial past, including historical markers, ruins of early plantation structures, and nearby petroglyphs from the island’s indigenous Kalinago population. The town maintains a quiet, rural character with deep historical roots.
