Description

Tell Brak, identified with ancient Nagar, was a major city in northeastern Syria, dating back to the 6th millennium BCE. It became one of the earliest urban centers in Mesopotamia, flourishing during the 3rd millennium BCE as the capital of the Kingdom of Nagar.

Modern Remains

"Today, Tell Brak is an important archaeological site. Excavations have revealed temples, administrative buildings, and the ""Eye Temple,"" filled with thousands of eye-shaped idols. While the site has suffered damage in recent conflicts, it remains a key source of knowledge about prehistoric and early historic Mesopotamian civilizations."
