Description
Lopburi is a city in central Thailand, historically significant as a key location in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It served as a major administrative and military center and was a royal residence during parts of the 17th century under King Narai the Great.
Modern Remains
Today, Lopburi is known for its historical ruins, including the Phra Prang Sam Yot, a Khmer-style temple, and several other ancient structures from the Ayutthaya period. The city is also famous for its large population of monkeys, which inhabit the ruins of the city. Modern-day Lopburi has preserved much of its historical charm, with ancient temples and city walls remaining key tourist attractions.
