Description

Launggyet was the capital of the Kingdom of Arakan (Rakhine) in present-day western Myanmar from the 13th to the 15th centuries. Nestled near the Kaladan River, it served as a fortified city and political center during a period of regional consolidation.

Modern Remains

Today, Launggyet’s ruins near Mrauk-U include remnants of city walls, pagodas, and stupas. Though overshadowed by the later Mrauk-U monuments, the site remains important for understanding early Arakanese statecraft and religious life.
