Description

Lahore, located on the banks of the Ravi River, has been a vibrant cultural and political center for centuries. It rose to prominence under the Ghaznavids and later flourished as a major Mughal city. Under the Sikh Empire, it became the empire’s capital, reflecting a fusion of Islamic, Persian, and Sikh architectural and cultural influences.

Modern Remains

Today, Lahore retains many remnants of the Sikh Empire, including the Samadhi of Ranjit Singh, the Hazuri Bagh Baradari, and parts of the Lahore Fort renovated during his reign. These structures highlight the city’s rich Sikh heritage amid its diverse historical layers.
