Description

Jiang was an ancient settlement and vassal state during the Zhou Dynasty, later becoming a client state of the powerful State of Jin. Located in what is now modern Shanxi or Henan, Jiang played a regional administrative and military role in the complex feudal landscape of early Zhou China.

Modern Remains

Physical remains of Jiang are sparse, but archaeological finds such as tombs, bronzeware, and inscriptions from the Zhou period in regions once under Jin control offer clues to its culture and connections. Some ancient city foundations possibly linked to Jiang have been uncovered in northern Henan Province, contributing to our understanding of early Chinese statecraft and feudal relations.
