Description

Aigai was the first capital of the ancient Kingdom of Macedon, located near modern-day Vergina in northern Greece. It served as the political and ceremonial center of early Macedonian kings. The city housed royal palaces, temples, and the royal necropolis, making it a symbol of early Macedonian statehood and power before the capital moved to Pella.
