Description

Ganja, located in western Azerbaijan, is the second-largest city in the country and has a rich history dating back to ancient times. During the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–1920), Ganja was one of the key cities in the newly independent state and briefly served as the capital in 1918.

Modern Remains

Today, Ganja is a significant cultural and industrial city. Although much of its early 20th-century history has been overshadowed by later Soviet developments, the city retains landmarks from the period, including government buildings, monuments, and historical sites that commemorate its role during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Modern Ganja continues to be a hub of Azerbaijani culture and history.
