Description

Shaoxing, located in Zhejiang Province, was the capital of the State of Yue during the 6th to 4th centuries BCE. Known for its picturesque waterways and cultural heritage, the city served as a center of power during the Eastern Zhou period. Shaoxing played a key role in the Warring States period, marking a significant phase in early Chinese history.

Modern Remains

Modern Shaoxing boasts several ancient landmarks such as the King Goujian's Tomb, where the famous ruler of Yue is buried, and The Shaoxing Museum that showcases Yue culture and ancient artifacts. Visitors can explore the East Lake, a scenic area once connected to the city's ancient layout, or visit The Lu Xun Memorial Hall dedicated to one of China's most prominent writers from Shaoxing.
