It was the capital of the Gauda Kingdom during the 7th century CE, a prosperous kingdom known for its strategic location and thriving trade. Once a powerful center, Karnasuvarna eventually fell into decline, and much of the city now lies in ruins, surrounded by rich cultural and historical landscapes.
Modern Remains
The ruins of Karnasuvarna are located near the Bhagirathi River in Murarai, West Bengal. Visitors can explore the ancient temples, monuments, and remnants of the city’s fortifications.
