Description

Satara is a city located in Maharashtra, India, known for its historical importance as the capital of the Maratha Empire in the 18th century. Nestled at the confluence of the Krishna and Venna Rivers, it served as the center of administration and military activity during the reign of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and later, the Peshwas.

Modern Remains

Satara Fort is one of the main attractions, with its grand gates, temples, and scenic views. Pratapgad Fort, a few kilometers away, is famous for the battle between Shivaji Maharaj and Bijapur Sultanateforces. The Rajwada Palace and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial are also key landmarks. Visitors can also explore the Ajinkyatara Hill for panoramic views and a temple dedicated to Goddess Bhavani
