Description
Perumbadappu was the capital of the Kingdom of Cochin during the 12th–15th centuries CE, located in present-day Kerala. Known for its strategic location, it played a crucial role in the maritime trade and culture of the region. The kingdom was an important center for the spice trade, with a rich cultural and political history.
Modern Remains
Today, the region’s historical significance can still be appreciated through local traditions, temples, and the ruins of royal residences. While much of the ancient capital is lost, visitors can explore the nearby temples like the Paradesi Synagogue, and ancient Kerala-style architecture in Fort Kochi, reflecting the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage. The nearby backwaters also offer scenic views.
