Description
Nashik, located in the state of Maharashtra, India, was the capital of the Satavahana Dynasty during the 1st–2nd centuries CE. Known for its religious significance, it is one of the most important pilgrimage cities for Hindus. Nashik is nestled along the Godavari River and is famous for its connection to ancient scriptures, including the Ramayana, with numerous temples and ghats spread across the city.
Modern Remains
Modern Nashik retains numerous landmarks of its glorious past, including the Pandav Leni caves, which are Buddhist rock-cut caves dating back to the 1st century BCE.
