Basavakalyan, located in the Bidar district of Karnataka, India, was the capital of the Western Chalukya Dynasty during the 10th–12th centuries CE. Known for its strategic location and religious importance, Basavakalyan was a center of political administration and culture. It is also closely associated with the famous social reformer Basava, whose teachings led to the rise of the Lingayat movement in the region.
